My Words for 2021: EMPOWER MORE
If you wonder why this is such a gargantuan image, it’s what I have to do in order to add new photos to my Slideshow on the Homepage. Since I don’t change those photos that often, I seem to have to relearn this process every time I refresh. I’ve been meaning to freshen up that front page, but it always take the back burner. Today, I’m tending to it and I’m putting some time limits on myself. I tend to meander through tech tasks for fear I’ll mess something up. And, as a side note, I feel like my website game has devolved. Back when I first had the ModHomeEc site, it was professionally created and really did the trick. Since then, I’ve patched things together on my website since there are so many other internet hangouts to share my stuff. One of my 2021 tasks is to upscale my website to a more ‘aligned’ and functional space. (‘aligned’ is another one of those overused crutch words. Sorry. I’m also guilty of letting it roll out during some of my 1:1 ramblings.)
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but EVERYONE seems to be choosing their word for the year. Actually, there are probably only about five words being shared by the entire online entrepreneurial population. So, in order to walk my talk about being unique, I’m choosing EMPOWER MORE as my words for the year. Obviously, that means to help women to become ‘fear less’ in life, beginning with simply daring to create something for their homes. We start slowly to build the confidence and skills, then move into more complex projects, more powerful tools, and more of a spectacular sense of unstoppable empowerment; let alone a giant sense of satisfaction and pride. While I’m working away on curricula, you need to start thinking of what you’d like to learn how to build, create, design, or fix this year. You can leave it at that, the nuts and bolts hands-on experience, or dig deeper into the metaphoric meaning behind it all. Think about the upcoming year and what you’d like to build, create, design, or fix. Don’t you love how it works on multiple levels?
There were two lines I used to use all the time back when I first started blogging. The first one was, ‘The Process is the Product’. My then-husband thought I was crazy as he never embraced the process in anything he did. I always treasured the process. You know–all the valuable things you learn from the journey. Secondly, when I first began posting upholstery projects on Curbly.com, back before the internet had much content, and even less upholstery projects, I would end my tutorials with, ‘You can do this’. Admittedly, that’s not a brilliant line, but I did believe that my readers could follow my directions and create something useful, good looking, and that they were proud of. I still stand by both of those quotes. They continue to be strong and relevant; maybe even more so today.
So, as we tread lightly into 2021, much love to you all and try to make something new every day. I’m cheering you on. Process!!!!!!
